Our Therapists
Kathleen Hancock is a Pennsylvania Licensed Professional Counselor (#PC010164) and a Registered Play Therapist- Supervisor (# S3152) with the American Association for Play Therapy serving the Lehigh Valley. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of North Texas in 2010 and her Master of Science in Counseling from Loyola University New Orleans in 2013. After several years of community based counseling in New Orleans, she moved to the Lehigh Valley, where she has been working in the private practice setting since 2018. Kathleen, better known as Katie, has ten years of experience helping children as young as three years old navigate their struggles with anxiety, anger, autism, social issues, and family conflict. Her approach to therapy with kids incorporates pretend play, board games, sandtray, art, and sensory play to meet them at their developmental level.
Jessica Knauss is a current master’s-level student through Chestnut Hill College, seeking a degree in clinical/counseling psychology, with a concentration in working alongside children, adolescents and their families. Her work history includes 4 years (and counting) of experience with families of various backgrounds in the general public and military (of both active duty and veteran statuses). She previously managed services for families in Early Intervention and currently works full-time in the office for Developmental Pediatrics, as a Clinical Associate.

Play Therapy
Play therapy assists children's inherent drive for growth by using their natural state: Play! The playroom at Valley Play Therapy has all the tools your child needs to tell their story and empower them to grow. Play therapy has been proven to help children with dysregulation, anxiety, anger, depression, impulsivity, social difficulties, autism, and low self-esteem.
Parent Consultation
Many parents struggle with how to manage their children's big feelings and frustrating behavior, including tantrums, task refusal, and power struggles. Katie can help you change your approach to these struggles and improve your relationship with your child.
Licensure Supervision
Kathleen is qualified to provide supervision for LPC licensure by the Pennsylvania State Board of Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists and Professional Counselors. As a Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor, she can also assist you on your path toward the RPT credential.

Self-Pay
$150/1-Hour session with Kathleen Hancock, MS, LPC, RPT-S
$20/1-Hour session with Jessica Knauss, Counseling Student Intern
Insurance
Kathleen is in-network with many Capital Blue Cross, Aetna, United, and Highmark plans.
As a student, Jessica is not yet eligible for health insurance networks.
